Key Services of LARS:
- Assessment of individuals and families to determine needed or applicable services
- Limited emergency assistance such as food, temporary shelter, clothing/furniture vouchers, eviction prevention, and help with utility cutoff
- Transitional housing and support services
- Referrals to appropriate community agencies by telephone or personal contacts
- Budget counseling for improved money management
- Employment services (ONLY on Fridays, no appointment necessary)
- Advocating for clients with other community services
- Holiday and school supply programs
- SHARE food program partner
- Intake and assessments for local congregations' winter shelter participants
- Referrals for drug/alcohol/addiction treatment
- Support for veterans
- Assistance with MEAP (Maryland Energy Assistance Program) applications for Prince George's and Anne Arundel County residents in our area of service. *PLEASE NOTE: As of January 1, 2013, LARS will be accepting Maryland Energy Assistance Program (MEAP) applications for Prince George’s County residents on Wednesdays ONLY. A certifier from the Prince George’s County Office of Home Energy Program will be present on Wednesdays to process applications. Appointments are not needed, but please be sure to arrive at least one hour before closing to ensure that you are seen.
